The 2024 UNSW Culture Awards celebrate student contribution to the cultural, artistic and community life of the university.

Nominations are now open for students and clubs to be acknowledged for their leadership and innovation in art, music, religious programs, and engagement within our diverse campus community.

Nomination criteria for Club Awards and Individual Student Awards are below, and all UNSW students and staff may submit nominations. Nominees must be current UNSW students and recognised UNSW student societies.

Make sure you're logged in with your zID, submit your nominations by 9am Thursday 17 October 2024, and get ready to celebrate at the 2024 UNSW Culture Awards on Thursday 31 October!

 

 

Prize: $AUD1000

Eligibility: Must be a club registered with Arc and/or recognised by the UNSW student community

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated development and support of the international student experience through artistic or ethnocultural expression at UNSW
  • Relevance of the program/s and activities, and impact on the international student community
  • Success of the program/s through the number of individuals benefited and quality of experience
  • Accessibility of the program to a diverse student audience

Who can nominate: UNSW Clubs and UNSW staff or students

Prize: $AUD1000

Eligibility: Must be a club or society registered with Arc and/or recognised by the UNSW student community

Criteria:

  • Relevance of the organisation’s program/s in creating societal impact through artistic or ethnocultural expression within the greater UNSW community
  • Success of the program/s through the number of individuals engaged, quality of experience and impact of program and activities
  • Accessibility of engagement opportunities to a diverse student audience

Who can nominate: UNSW Clubs and UNSW staff or students

Prize: $AUD1000

Supported by the Health Promotion Unit

Eligibility: Must be a club or society registered with Arc and/or recognised by the UNSW student community

Criteria:

  • a currently active student club at UNSW whose activities have created meaningful impact or influenced positive change to the mental health and wellbeing of other UNSW students.
  • It is encouraged that the prize contribution be reinvested in the club to further its work in the area.

Who can nominate: UNSW Clubs and UNSW staff or students

Prize: $AUD1500 shared between collaborating clubs

Eligibility: Must be a clubs or societies registered with Arc and/or recognised by the UNSW student community

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated successful collaboration between two or more clubs, showcasing how their combined efforts have created a more significant cultural impact on the UNSW community by delivering relevant and innovative cultural programs and events.
  • The success of the collaborative initiatives in terms of the number of individuals engaged, the quality of the experience, and the overall impact on the campus community.
  • The extent to which the collaborative efforts provided accessible and inclusive opportunities for a wide range of students to participate in and engage with cultural activities.
  • This award is jointly awarded to two or more clubs.

Who can nominate: UNSW Clubs and UNSW staff or students

Prize: $AUD500

Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student at UNSW, UNSW College or AGSM

Criteria:

  • Positive impact on the broader community at UNSW and in outward-facing community engagement
  • Demonstrated leadership and innovation
  • Accessibility of engagement opportunities to a diverse student audience

Who can nominate: UNSW  staff or students

Prize: $AUD500

Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student at UNSW, UNSW College or AGSM

Criteria:

  • Improving the campus experience for international students through leadership and innovation
  • Positive impact on the international student community and enabling student connection
  • Accessibility of engagement opportunities to a diverse student audience

Who can nominate: UNSW staff or students

Prize: $AUD500

Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student at UNSW, UNSW College or AGSM

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated leadership in promoting artistic or ethnocultural expression within the greater UNSW community
  • Demonstrated innovation in creating cultural experiences for the student community on and off campus
  • Accessibility of engagement opportunities to a diverse student audience

Who can nominate: UNSW staff or students

Prize: $AUD500

Eligibility: Must be an international student currently enrolled at UNSW, UNSW College or AGSM and a resident of UNSW Accommodation or colleges affiliated with UNSW.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated positive contribution to college life, and impact on the residential community
  • Evident demonstration of initiative and leadership in promoting student engagement and interaction

Who can nominate: UNSW staff or students

Prize: $500

Supported by the Health Promotion Unit

Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student at UNSW, UNSW College or AGSM.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated improvement in the campus experience for others, created meaningful impact or influenced positive change
  • Evident demonstration of consistent willingness to go above and beyond to help and support other UNSW students.

Who can nominate: UNSW staff or students. Self-nominations will not be considered.

Prize: $AUD500

Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled student at UNSW or AGSM and current member of a religious group within UNSW who has made significant contributions to the university and broader community.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrated efforts to promote cohesion in the community through leadership and contribution
  • Relevance and impact on the community of the student-led program or activity
  • Number of individuals benefiting from their activities
  • Any community-given awards or acknowledgement of the individual in recognition of their contribution to the community

Who can nominate: Chaplains formerly affiliated with UNSW are solely permitted to nominate individual students
