Music Performance UNSW is delighted to announce Nicholas D’Silva as the winner of UNSW’s 2023 Concerto Auditions, for his performance of Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2.
UNSW Concerto Auditions
In 2024, we offer the opportunity for soloists to audition for a performance in Term 2 and 3 with the UNSW Orchestra. The winner will need to make themselves available for a performance with UNSWO in term 2 or 3 in 2024, on a date as programmed by the Music Performance Unit.
Applicants must be a UNSW student. Soloists are selected based on performance quality, and appropriateness and difficulty of repertoire. The final decision will rest with UNSW Music Performance Unit. A winner will be selected based on artistic proficiency, repertoire choice and the orchestration of the concerto. The Music Performance Unit reserves the right to not appoint a winner should the level of candidates be deemed not appropriate.
For the audition, two contrasting movements from a concerto should be prepared by candidates, unaccompanied. The maximum instrumentation for 2024 are *3222-4231-T+3-str.
