Entries for the inaugural Willgoss Choral Composition competition closed on January 31, with adjudication completed in mid-February. Congratulations to composer Dr Matthew Orlovich for his winning work, Sonnet, to the comet of 1825, which will be rehearsed and performed by the Burgundian Consort later in the year.
As the composer of the winning piece, Matthew will receive $3000, supported by Richard and Sue Willgoss, and will hopefully be able to come and work with UNSW's young chamber choir as the singers prepare the piece for performance. Matthew is very experienced at writing for choirs, which is very clear in his new work.
Congratulations to Matthew, and we look forward to the premiere performance in September!
